Honiton 4.2 miles. A quaint barn conversion, Butterton Cottage is a lovely two-bedroom stone cottage located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the outskirts of Combe Raleigh, Devon. Set in the Blackdown Hills, with rolling countryside and green fields to wander, this is a lovely place for friends and family to escape to the countryside to enjoy peace and tranquillity and recharge.
Close to the amenities of Honiton and around 12 miles to the coast, the location is ideal for exploring East Devon and the popular Jurassic Coast. Situated within a small farmstead on a 300-acre working farm, the cottage is approached via a long farm track, where you will arrive to find two allocated parking spaces.
The open-plan living space has a charming rustic feel with character ceiling beams and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen, although compact, offers everything needed for creating meals which can be enjoyed together around the farmhouse-style table and chairs. When it is time to rest your head, the two bedrooms, a spacious king-size and a smaller twin bedroom are located on the first floor and both enjoy a delightful rural outlook.
The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, wash basin and WC, and is also located on this floor, providing the option of a quick freshen up or a soothing soak after a day out. The enclosed garden at the front of the cottage allows you to fully appreciate this delightful and peaceful location, with the outside table and chairs inviting you to sit quietly with a book or enjoy alfresco mealtimes.
Given its rural location, the area is popular with walkers with plenty of walks in the nearby Blackdown Hills AONB taking in woodland and local hill forts. The market town of Honiton offers a good range of everyday shopping with a twice-weekly market and a mix of popular coffee shops, antique shops, restaurants, and eateries.
When it comes to days out, the Regency town of Sidmouth is a popular choice with the Donkey Sanctuary, sure to be a big hit with animal lovers. Lyme Regis, with its family-friendly beach and famous Cobb Harbour is another family favourite where you can try your hand at fossil hunting. Other popular day trips include the popular fishing village of Beer with its limestone cliffs and pretty beach where it is easy to lose a few hours sitting in a deckchair watching the local fishermen hauling their catches ashore.
